Gem Forging Aftermath
The Ironbark’ s temple started to collapse from the forging of the green gem. The ironbark eldars were quickly crushed under the falling boulders and rocks, the entire temple decended into darkness as the party desperately scrambled to find the gem. Zyrax cast dancing lights but they were quickly smothered by the falling dust. Sakudan and Zultar immediatedly dived into what remained of the magical pool but with low rolls from each of them they quickly became entangled with each other. Celumorn & Gliocas moved quick to aid the divers. Celumorn casting gust of wind to protect the party from the falling rocks and Gliocas sending the glass drift globe out to provide vision, but like the lights before it, it was immediately destroyed under the falling debris.
The rest of the party made haste to exit the cavern and back into the adjecent stable hall. With one final turn before the cavern collapses, Celumorn turned the gust towards the pool lifting the pool of water onto the wall as the divers made their final attempts to find the gem with no avail before finally retreating into the hall. Gliocas in his desperation sent an illuminated mage hand into the pool and with a stroke of luck plucked the gem out and he too, fell back into the hall before the inevitable collapse of the ceiling, entombing the dead eldars.
Sakudan’s Kate Bush Moment
With no weapons or armor the party took guidance from Thorum to retrieve their items from their temporary dorms. Jaqen, Celumorn, Dave & both Kevin’s take point and rush the dorms as Sakudan is taken into a trance and confronted with the old one. Sakudan is mindlessly walked towards the open hall before being acended into the air by the magical force. With Sakudan unable to communicate, Zultar sprinted to his aid leaping into the air in an attempt to combat the god’s magicial force.
As Jaqen & Dave enter the dorms they were confronted by two terifying hellhounds. The two Kevins defensively sprinted into the room fiercely engaging the hellhounds to protect Dave as Jaqen made an impressive aerial leap over them into the dorm retrieving his daggers and joining the fight. Back in the hall, The old one, unimpressed with the lack of sacrifices from Sakudan begun to crush his body as Zyrax psychically battles to release his mind from the gods grasp. With a good saving throw Sakudan breaks his mute and begs the old one’s forgiveness. Sensing another great magical presence imminently approaching the old one releases Sakudan telling him to escape.
The Escape
Quickly crashing to the ground together with Zultar, Sakudan telepathically commands the party to escape. as the split party make their way across the hall a huge meteor suddendly crashes through the roof obliterating the halls center, bridge and the doors to the dorms. Zultar & Sakudan are blasted across the room in the destruction. Artimus, Thorum and Gliocas take the full brunt of the meteor with Gliocas being plunged into the nearby pool unconcious. Zyrax also got lightly damaged and pushed back on the broken bridge. Gliocas, Thorum and Sakudan are put onto death saving throws from the damage. To add fuel to the fire three demons entered the hall with the meteor.
Zyrax summoned rodney to protect the downed players as Zultar helped Sakudan to his feet. Celumorn feeling the doors blasting past her made her way back into the hall to help the heavily damaged party. Celumorn seeing the nearby pool and the raging inferno from the meteor cleverly casts control water lifting the pools content over the meteor engulfing one of the demons. Of the other two demons, one heads for Zultar and Sakudan as the other engaged Artimus. Sakudan with his magic returned to him evoked dimension door to the exit of the hall, tumbling in with Zultar and narrowly escaped the demons clutches. As the engagement continued a portal with a terrifying aura pouring into the hall begun to open at the far side.
Dave and Jaqen hearing Sakudans command quickly gathered the parties items and slip past the tussling metal and hell hounds returning to the hall. Now equipped but too damaged to deal with the approching portal threat the party are forced to make a defensive retreat leaving Thorum behind while fighting off the demons and Artimus going to death saving throws. Zyrax managed to stabilse Gliocas as Zultar and Celumorn make hasty heals to recover Gliocas and Artimus. The party slowly make their way to the exit as Gliocas’s Kevin falls to the hell hounds whilst Dave’s Kevin makes a high roll to find the dropped green gem in the now empty pool.
The hellish obscurred figure finally makes its entrance through the portal and makes chase to the now frightened party. The figure focused on the gem casts finger of death on Kevin but quick reactions from Zyrax counters the bolt of magic on its path. Dave seeing the powerful figures gem fixation casts invisablity on Kevin and commands him to sprint out into the forest. As the party make their way out they see the nightmarish scenes of the ironbark dwarves being overrun by demons. Like a bitter saving grace, the figure, now knowing it cannot get the gem turns to Thorum on the ground nearby, picks him up and pours its necromancy magic into disintergrating him into ash whilst the party watches before slowly returning into the portal.
Somberly the party dispatches the remaining demons in the forest before recovering Thorums ashes and Dave giving the remaining ironbark dwarves a rather uninspiring speech.
